AMBULANCE CASE: Attorney General Godfred Dame Must Resign – Amaliba

Attorney General, Godfred Dame

The Director of Conflict Resolution at the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has asked the Attorney-General, Godfred Dame to step down from his position.
According to Mr. Amaliba, it would be in Mr. Dame’s best interest to resign before the NDC releases what it claims to be damning evidence against him.
The controversy stems from serious allegations made by Richard Jakpa, the third defendant in an ongoing case.

Abraham Amaliba

Mr Jakpa claimed in court that AG Dame had repeatedly sought his assistance to implicate Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial.
These allegations have cast a shadow over the AG’s conduct in the matter
In response to these accusations, the AG has categorically denied any wrongdoing and urged the public to disregard Mr. Jakpa’s claims.
However, Mr Amaliba speaking in an interview with Citi TV on Saturday, May 25, insisted that Mr. Dame was aware of the request made to Jakpa to implicate Ato Forson, suggesting that the AG’s denials are unfounded.
Mr Amaliba further argued that AG Dame is not suitable for his office due to his temperament and his tendency to perceive political opponents as enemies.
He believes that Mr. Dame’s conduct undermines the impartiality required for his role.
“I think at this point Godfred Dame should resign…Next week we have promised to put these things out. He will hear his own voice trying to implicate [Ato Forson]. So I think it is in his best interest to resign before this evidence is adduced.
“Because he knows he has met the accused person several times without his lawyer. He knows he has spoken to the accused person in times that the accused person himself described as ungodly hours, all in an attempt to get the third accused person to implicate the first accused,” he said.
