Barker-Vormawor Granted GH₵20K Bail In Street Protest Case

The Accra High Court has granted bail to Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the accused persons in the Democracy Hub street protest case.
He has been charged with multiple counts of stealing [of a police car key], conspiracy, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assault on public officer, and defacement of public property.
He had earlier been declined bail but on Wednesday [October 16], he was granted a GH₵20,000 bail with two sureties.
He has been ordered to report to the police twice a week.
Barker-Vormawor is one of 53 people charged with multiple counts of conspiracy, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assault on public officer, and defacement of public property.
In court on Wednesday, October 16, the judge handling the matter indicated that there was no assurance that Oliver would not commit further offences after already doing so though on bail on different charges.
He was earlier denied bail by the Circuit Court when he made his first appearance on Thursday, September 26, 2024. 
His lawyers, led by Justice Srem-Sai filed the application for bail at the High Court but that was denied by the High Court on Tuesday morning (October 7).
