NDC Should Focus On Their Campaign Promises Rather Than Coming After Me – Afenyo-Markin
The Minority leader and MP for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of being insincere after its ‘Operation Recover All Loots’ (ORAL) task force denied flying drones over his property.
According to him, the ORAL team did, in fact, deploy drones over his residence under the pretext of conducting a search and described this action as unacceptable.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews on Wednesday, February 19, Mr Afenyo-Markin criticised what he sees as a political strategy of attacking opponents to weaken them, arguing that such tactics do not work.

He urged the NDC to focus on fulfilling its mandate and delivering on its manifesto promises rather than targeting him with allegations of illegally acquiring state property.
“The NDC should know that they have won with a four-year mandate. They should be busy with the implementation of their manifesto promises rather than coming after Afenyo-Markin,” he said.
Dismissing allegations of possible wrongdoing as baseless, he stated, “How can you come to my property that I have put there since 2006,” stressing that the ORAL team mistakenly assumed that his property was on a state-owned land.
The Effutu legislator further explained that his property shares a boundary with the Police Academy, which may have led the ORAL team to believe it belonged to the academy.

“Unfortunately for them, that was not it. In any case, must you fly a drone on my property,” he questioned.
Mr Afenyo-Markin also noted that there had been no official communication informing him that the ORAL team intended to conduct a search on his property.
When asked whether he would be surprised if his name or property appeared in the ORAL report submitted to President John Mahama, the Effutu MP was resolute in his response.
“I’ll sue them. I will sue them. If I see anything inconsistent with the law, I’ll sue them. I’ll sue their individual personalities. I’ll sue each one of them. I’ll sue for the law to remedy the situation.”
