Tradition Lives On As Finance Minister Storms Parliament With ‘Designer’ Brown Bag

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has arrived in Parliament to present the 2025 budget.

Clad in a blue suit paired with a polka-dotted red tie, the finance minister was seen beaming with smiles as he was welcomed by some dignitaries at Parliament.

As has been the tradition, the minister had with him a brown leather bag adorned with the presidential badge.

In a video shared by GhanaWeb Business, Dr. Forson appeared cheerful as he interacted with some dignitaries upon his arrival.

The budget presentation is in line with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 21 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

This marks his first budget reading since assuming office and it will provide updates on the country’s economic performance, fiscal policies, and adjustments to the main budget for the remainder of the year.

The minister is expected to address key areas, including economic and fiscal performance for the first half of the year, growth measures, revenue, expenditure performance, financing, and debt sustainability.
