GETFund Commends Finance Minister for Consistent Support to Education Sector

Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has lauded the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, for his consistent and timely monthly releases of funds, which it says are significantly strengthening Ghana’s education sector—particularly under the current Mahama administration.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 16, 2025, GETFund highlighted that the regular flow of funds has been instrumental in advancing key national education priorities, notably the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.
According to the Fund, these timely disbursements have ensured uninterrupted payments to contractors and suppliers involved in critical educational infrastructure projects. The releases have also supported:
- Prompt funding to the Students Loan Trust Fund for disbursements to tertiary students,
- Full payment of the Youth Employment Agency’s annual allocation, and
- Coverage of WASSCE registration fees to prevent students from being excluded due to financial constraints.
GETFund Administrator, Paul Adjei, praised Dr. Forson for his transparency and responsiveness, describing the collaboration between the Ministry and the Fund as essential to sustaining momentum in the education sector.
He further emphasized that the consistent financial support reflects President John Mahama’s commitment to human capital development and his administration’s focus on ensuring equitable access to quality education.
Adjei also reaffirmed GETFund’s dedication to prudent financial management and strategic investment in infrastructure, logistics, and learning resources. These, he noted, are designed to complement government efforts and enhance the long-term effectiveness of national education policies.
GETFund concluded that this financial reliability marks a notable improvement in operational stability, laying a firm foundation for ongoing education reforms and inclusive development across the country.
