12-Year-Old Student Found Dead After Washing Ashore at Saltpond-Nkubem

Residents of the Nkubem Electoral Area in the Mfantseman Municipality have been gripped with fear and sorrow following the discovery of a young boy’s body that washed ashore early Friday morning.
According to the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Francis Kow Dotse, the deceased—believed to be about 12 years old—is suspected to have drowned several days earlier before being carried to shore by the tides.
Hon. Dotse noted in an interview that the boy is not known to residents of Nkubem, raising concerns about where he might have come from and the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
“The child does not appear to be from this community. We are still unsure of his identity, and investigations will be needed to determine what really happened,” he explained.
The body has since been conveyed to the Saltpond Government Hospital morgue for preservation and possible identification by relatives. Meanwhile, authorities have urged the public, especially communities along the coastline, to remain cautious and to promptly report any missing persons.
The incident has left residents unsettled, as they await further details from both the family of the deceased—once identified—and the police, who are expected to officially launch investigations into the matter.
