President John Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to promoting inclusive education, stressing that no Ghanaian should be denied access to learning or opportunity on account of disability.

Speaking at the launch of the Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities Initiative, President Mahama underscored the urgent need to dismantle social and economic barriers that continue to hinder the full participation of persons with disabilities in national life.

He described the exclusion of individuals from education and employment due to disability as both a personal tragedy and a national loss, noting that every citizen deserves the opportunity to contribute to Ghana’s development.

“Too many still face barriers of poverty, stigma, and lack of access to education and livelihood opportunities. These are not just individual challenges—they represent a national loss,” President Mahama stated.

He emphasised that inclusion is fundamental to Ghana’s social and economic advancement, adding that empowering persons with disabilities would unlock untapped potential and accelerate the country’s progress.

“When we exclude, we waste talent. But when we include and empower, we multiply national progress. Our collective responsibility is to ensure that no Ghanaian is denied the chance to learn, to work, or to serve because of disability,” he concluded.
