Land Litigation Is Tarnishing Our Image And Retiring Progress – Paramount Chief Laments

The issue of land disputes in Ghana is a common phenomenon. Such disputes are characterized by unending litigations in court, the use of land guards to protect the lands and prevent developments, and sometimes develop in violence.
The Paramount Chief (Omanhen) of the Asebu Traditional Area in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, Professor Okatakyir Amenfi VII, has ordered a cease fire on land litigations tarnishing the image of the Traditional Area.
Speaking to the media on issues at stake, Omanhen cited a case of Akowa-Anona Ebusua claiming about 130 acres of land been a portion of the Asebu Pan African Village Project which is bringing development and progress, especially boosting the economic growth and tourism aspect of the communities where the projects are ongoing in the district.
He said, the case has been in court for almost a year which is not the best because ‘Nananom’ are agents and ambassadors of peace and development which, he (Omanhen) is fostering to bring home Ghanaians-abroad and developers to channelled their businesses and projects to Asebu Traditional Area.
Given the effects of disputes on land investments and development, Prof. Okatakyir Amenfi VII, the Paramount Chief of the Asebu Traditional Area noted that, it is important to result in a strategy of preventing, avoiding, managing and resolving land disputes to facilitate nation building and development.
