I Focus On Results, Not Drama – Mahama Ayariga To Afenyo-Markin

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has dismissed remarks made by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who suggested that Ayariga’s parliamentary style could impede government business.

Mr Ayariga characterised the comments as overly theatrical and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the efficient execution of parliamentary duties.
In an interview on Monday, 27 January, with Channel One TV, Mr Ayariga described Afenyo-Markin’s approach as excessively dramatic, emphasising his own preference for measured, results-oriented leadership.
“That’s just Afenyo-Markin; he thrives on drama,” Ayariga remarked. “He sometimes over-dramatises situations to the point where it can be hard to take seriously. But that’s his style, and people have come to expect it.”
Ayariga clarified that his primary focus is achieving results, particularly in overseeing the approval and deployment of the president’s appointees. He pointed to recent successes in ministerial approvals as evidence of his leadership’s effectiveness.
“Many people comment on social media or send messages asking why I tolerate certain behaviour. My answer is simple: how many ministers were approved today? That’s the measure of success. My role is to support the president in getting his team in place,” he explained.
Highlighting the swift progress made in processing nominees, Ayariga underscored his focus on outcomes rather than theatrics.
“In the end, the results speak louder than any dramatic debates. These approvals are some of the fastest in our parliamentary history—go and verify the records,” he concluded.
Mr Ayariga reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring the prompt approval and placement of the president’s nominees, enabling them to effectively serve the nation in their respective roles.
