
Former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa/Atiwa East in the Eastern Region, Kwabena Panin Nkansah, has died, leaving the local political community and residents in deep mourning.
The sad news was confirmed by the Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, Abena Osei-Asare, in a Facebook post on Thursday, May 27, 2026, in which she described his passing as a significant loss to both the constituency and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the MP, Mr. Nkansah passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Madam Osei-Asare paid tribute to the late former DCE, noting that he played a foundational role in the development and early recognition of Atiwa East during his tenure as the district’s first chief executive.
“This loss is deeply personal to many of us in Atiwa East and within the NPP fraternity. Hon. Panin Nkansah was not only our first DCE; he was one of the foundational figures of our district,” she wrote.
She further highlighted that under his leadership, Atiwa East gained national attention and began establishing itself among more developed districts in the country.
The MP also reflected on her personal working relationship with the late administrator, describing him as a supportive, experienced, and committed public servant who contributed meaningfully to the growth of both the district and the NPP.
“I had the privilege of working closely with him during our time serving the people of Atiwa East, and throughout that period, we shared a warm and supportive relationship built on mutual respect and a common desire to see our district progress,” she noted.
Madam Osei-Asare extended her condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and party faithful, urging the public to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
She described the late Nkansah as a dependable leader who remained deeply committed to the welfare and development of the people he served.
