‘Grief Remains’ – Peter Anala’s Family Appeals for Prayers One Year After Adansi Helicopter Crash

The family of Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, one of the eight victims of the August 6, 2025 military helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, has appealed to Ghanaians to continue praying for the bereaved families, saying the pain of losing their loved ones remains as deep today as it was a year ago.

Speaking through family representative Percy Anala at the National Inter-Faith Memorial Service held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, the family said the passage of time has done little to lessen the emotional burden left by the tragic accident.

According to Percy Anala, the late Squadron Leader’s absence continues to leave an irreplaceable void in the lives of his wife, young daughter, mother and the entire family, who are still coming to terms with the devastating loss.

He acknowledged that the past year has been marked by grief, difficult adjustments and unanswered questions, but said the family has found strength through God’s grace and the overwhelming support shown by Ghanaians.

“We ask you to keep the families of the fallen in your prayers. Though time passes, grief remains. Your ongoing love, encouragement and support are priceless,” he appealed.

Reflecting on the anniversary of the tragedy, Percy Anala said the memories remain vivid despite the passage of a year.

“Today marks one year since our lives changed forever. Though a year has passed, it feels like yesterday. The loss of our beloved Peter Bafemi Anala remains profoundly painful.

“The last year has not been easy. We have faced grief, unanswered questions and difficult adjustments, especially for his wife, young daughter, mother and the entire family,” he said.

The family also paid tribute to the seven other victims who perished in the crash, noting that each bereaved family continues to endure the same heartbreak and painful memories.

They called on the nation to remember all eight fallen heroes not only for their sacrifice but also for the families they left behind, who continue to navigate life in their absence.

The Anala family further expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, religious leaders and all well-wishers for the support and compassion extended to the bereaved families over the past year.

According to the family, the prayers, messages of encouragement and acts of kindness received since the tragedy have provided comfort and strength during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

As Ghana marked the first anniversary of the fatal military helicopter crash with a National Inter-Faith Memorial Service, the family urged the public to continue remembering the fallen officers and their loved ones in prayer, stressing that while time has moved on, the grief remains.
