Voting is underway in the Mfantseman Constituency executive elections following the lifting of an injunction that had previously halted the electoral process.
The polls officially opened at about 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Centre for Organisation for Sports (COS), located opposite the Mfantseman New Patriotic Party (NPP) office at Kormantse.
A total of 1,766 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots in the constituency elections to elect the new executives.
The Returning Officer for the election, Mr John Nunu, has assured all stakeholders of a smooth, transparent and orderly electoral process.
Election officials and representatives of the Regional Elections Committee have also been deployed to the polling centre to monitor proceedings and ensure that the exercise is conducted in accordance with the party’s electoral guidelines.
Among those overseeing the process are Prof. Enoch Dodoo, Regional Elections Research Officer and Regional Treasurer, and Asare Francis, a member of the Regional Elections Committee.
The officials are expected to conduct a thorough assessment of the exercise and ensure that all procedures are properly followed throughout the voting and collation processes.
The elections come after the removal of an injunction that had prevented the constituency from proceeding with the exercise, paving the way for delegates to finally vote for their preferred candidates.
Security and party officials are on the ground as voting continues, with stakeholders expected to maintain peace and order throughout the exercise.
The outcome of the elections is expected to determine the new leadership of the Mfantseman Constituency and shape the party’s organisational activities ahead of future political engagements.
