The Chief of Ajumako Kyebi, Nana Essel Kwako X, has appealed to the government and relevant authorities to expedite ongoing development projects in the community to improve the living conditions of residents.
He made the appeal during the homecoming and harvest celebration of Ajumako Kyebi, held under the theme, “United in Culture, Committed to Development.”
Speaking at the event, Nana Essel Kwako X called on the government, through the Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Hon. Dr Ato Forson, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Andrews Kojo Doudu, to ensure that stalled and incomplete projects in the community were completed without further delay.
He said one of the major concerns was a newly constructed Junior High School (JHS) block which had been completed but was yet to be commissioned and made available to pupils.
According to the chief, putting the completed school block into use would help improve the learning environment for children in the community and reduce the challenges associated with inadequate educational infrastructure.
Nana Essel Kwako X further expressed concern about the slow pace of work on other development projects in the area, urging the authorities and contractors involved to accelerate construction to ensure that residents benefit from the projects as soon as possible.
He also raised concerns about the condition of the community’s roads.
The chief explained that although the road had previously been tarred, portions of the tarred surface had been removed, leaving the road dusty and creating inconvenience for residents, motorists and other road users.
He therefore appealed to the appropriate authorities to take steps to address the situation and restore the road to a suitable condition.
Beyond infrastructure, Nana Essel Kwako X urged residents of Kyebi to remain united and work together towards the development of the community.
He stressed that unity among traditional authorities, residents, opinion leaders, youth and other stakeholders was essential to attracting and sustaining development.
Government Assures Community of Commitment
The Assembly Member for Osedzi and Kyebi, Hon. Samuel Adom, who represented the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive at the event, assured residents of the government’s commitment to completing development projects that had been initiated in the area.
He said the authorities were also looking forward to supporting the establishment of a secondary school in the area to provide further educational opportunities for children after completing basic education.
Hon. Samuel Adom appealed to residents to cooperate with contractors working on various projects and provide the necessary support to enable them to complete their work on schedule.
He said collaboration between the community and contractors was important to ensuring that projects were completed successfully and delivered to the people.
Call for Support for Community Centre
The Unit Committee Chairman for Kyebi, Mr Emmanuel Gardiner, also highlighted some development projects the community had benefited from through the support of the Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr Ato Forson.
He expressed appreciation for the interventions while appealing to the MP to provide additional support for the construction of a community centre that had already been initiated.
According to him, a completed community centre would provide residents with a suitable space for meetings, social activities and other community programmes.
The various speakers at the homecoming and harvest celebration therefore called for stronger collaboration among the government, traditional authorities, the Assembly, the MP, residents and development partners to accelerate development in Ajumako Kyebi.
