The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, has firmly declared her intention to contest the upcoming rerun election in the constituency, despite her party’s official decision to boycott the process.
Speaking ahead of the polls, Madam Owusu Afriyie expressed strong confidence in her chances and the final outcome.
“We are fully prepared. Tomorrow, we are going into this contest. On December 7, 2024, I won this election with 34,613 votes, while my opponent had 34,199. Both our polling agents verified these results together,” she stated.
She explained that results from 278 polling stations had already been collated, placing her in the lead by 349 votes, with only three polling stations yet to be declared.
“What I want to put on record is that darkness can never cover light. I am the light; I am the truth. I walk with the gracious God. The Lord will speak tomorrow; justice will prevail. I am contesting this election, and I will emerge victorious,” she added.
Her comments come amid controversy over the Electoral Commission’s decision to rerun voting in 19 polling stations within Ablekuma North — a move the NPP leadership has rejected as unjust.
Despite the party’s official position, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie’s declaration makes clear that she intends to go ahead with her campaign and contest the rerun.
