Accident Victim Support Extends Aid to Survivors of Kormantse Crash

The Accident Victim Support Unit has extended a hand of compassion to survivors of the tragic Kormantse road accident, which claimed 11 lives. The victims were returning from a funeral at Nsuem in the Western Region to Breman Fankyenko in the Central Region when the crash occurred.

Among the four survivors was a young child who, together with the others, received food items and a cash donation from the Unit.

Speaking to Tobinco Media Group after the presentation, the head of Accident Victim Support, Rev. Cyril Benedict Crabbe, explained that accident survivors often lose everything in such tragedies, including their money and personal belongings. He further stressed that the National Health Insurance Scheme does not cover most of the medical expenses incurred by accident victims.

Rev. Crabbe therefore urged drivers to exercise greater caution on the roads, lamenting the alarming rate of fatalities within just the first nine months of the year.

The child survivor’s grandmother, Mame Kaya, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organization for the timely support. She also appealed to drivers to be more mindful to protect lives.

Adding her voice, the Central Regional Head of the National Insurance Commission, Madam Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah, encouraged drivers to prioritize safety and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured survivors.

One of the survivors, Blessing Ofoe, also shared a chilling account of what transpired on that fateful day, recalling the terrifying moments leading up to the crash.
