Adwoa Safo Is My Daughter, But She Didn’t Vote for Me to Become Speaker – Alban Bagbin

Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has disclosed that former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, did not vote for him during his election as Speaker.
Mr. Bagbin made the lighthearted revelation when a delegation from the family of the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo paid a courtesy call on him in Parliament to officially inform him of the Apostle’s passing.
“Adwoa Safo is my daughter… but she did not vote for me to become Speaker,”
he said, drawing laughter from those gathered.
He went on to emphasize the long-standing relationship between himself and the former lawmaker, saying,
“I knew her even before she joined me in Parliament. I know those who voted for me.”
The meeting formed part of Parliament’s gesture of sympathy and solidarity with the Safo family following the death of the celebrated inventor and founder of the Kantanka Group of Companies.
The Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana officially announced Apostle Safo’s passing on September 14, revealing that he died peacefully on September 11, 2025.
Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo was widely revered as a pioneer of indigenous innovation and industrialization in Ghana, known for his groundbreaking work in automobile manufacturing, agricultural technology, and local engineering solutions.
