The Gallant Cadres of National Democratic Congress (NDC), has praised the launch of social intervention initiatives by H.E President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the statement, Cadres emphasized that, the initiatives; “Adwumawura programme, Work Abroad policy, and Coders programme demonstrate President Mahama’s commitment to empowering Ghanaian youths through entrepreneurship, job creation, and skills development training”.

The launch of several social intervention initiatives by President John Dramani Mahama, Adwumawura programme, Work Abroad policy, and Coders programme marks a significant milestone in addressing youth unemployment in Ghana. These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to empowering Ghanaian youths through entrepreneurship, job creation, and skills development training.

Unlike previous administrations of Nana Addo, which often allocated resources without tangible outcomes, the Adwumawura initiative, 100 Million Coders Programme is refreshing. The focus on well-structured Programmes like Adwumawura and Coders showcases a judicious use of resources, aimed at yielding meaningful results.

The Work Abroad policy, implemented through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), opens doors for Ghanaian youths to explore global job opportunities. This forward-thinking approach will undoubtedly contribute to reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth in Ghana.

In his 120 Day Social Contract with the people, President John Dramani Mahama promises to introduce the following social interventions: Free Tertiary Education
for Persons with Disabilities, Commence the distribution of Free Sanitary Pads to female students in primary and secondary schools. Mahama’s Free Sanitary Pad Initiative aims to Boost Girls’ Education. Interestingly President John Dramani Mahama has launched the Free Sanitary Pad Initiative, groundbreaking program aimed at providing menstrual hygiene products to schoolgirls across Ghana.
Again, the launch of the following priority job creation programmes in the first budget: ‘Adwumawura’ Programme, ‘National
Apprenticeship Programme’ and ‘One
Million Coders Programme The initiatives, which align with the National Democratic Congress’s 2024 manifesto, seeks to promote gender equality and ensure that every child has access to quality education, regardless of gender or background.
During the launch event in Accra, President Mahama emphasized his commitment to supporting girls’ education and dignity.
The government has allocated GH¢292.4 million in the 2024/2025 budget for the supply of sanitary pads to female students in public basic and secondary schools nationwide.
The Ministry of Education has directed Regional Ministers and District Chief Executives to organize similar events in their local assemblies, enabling donors to contribute to the initiative. Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, noted that companies have been invited to participate in the program, with regional and district directors tasked with monitoring the distribution.

Undoubtedly, by providing sanitary pads to schoolgirls, the initiative aims to ensure that girls remain in school, unhindered by menstrual hygiene challenges. This move is expected to have a positive impact on girls’ education and overall well-being, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and prosperous society.
