Former Upper Denkyira West District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Hon. Agyemang Asiedu secured a decisive victory with 233 votes, emerging ahead of the incumbent Communications Officer, Isaac Mensah (Blankson), who obtained 118 votes.

Another contender, Noah Osei Assenso, polled 85 votes.

The election was held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Mankessim Astro Turf as part of the NPP’s regional-level reorganisation aimed at electing executives to lead the party and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The former Upper Denkyira West DCE’s 233 votes gave him a margin of 115 votes over the incumbent Isaac Mensah, while he secured a 148-vote lead over Noah Osei Assenso.

The results were declared after the completion of voting, sorting and counting by officials supervising the election.

New Communications Leadership

The election outcome is expected to bring a new direction to the NPP’s communications strategy in the Central Region as the party seeks to strengthen its engagement with members, supporters and the wider public.

As Regional Communications Officer, Agyemang Asiedu will be expected to play a key role in coordinating the party’s messaging, responding to political developments and projecting the NPP’s policies and programmes across the region.

His victory also comes at a crucial period for the NPP, which is reorganising its structures and preparing for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The newly elected regional executives are expected to work together to rebuild and consolidate the party’s grassroots structures while improving internal coordination and communication ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The decisive result at Mankessim therefore marks a significant change in the NPP’s communications leadership in the Central Region, with Agyemang Asiedu taking over from the incumbent after a three-way contest.
