Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Delegates Declare Strong Support for Dr. Bawumia’s Flagbearership Bid
Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency have reaffirmed their firm backing for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s flagbearership election scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Led by former constituency secretary Noah Osei Asenso and other coordinators, the delegates assured Dr. Bawumia that the constituency remains solidly behind his bid and has no intention of shifting its support.
Speaking at a ceremony held to welcome Dr. Bawumia to the constituency as part of his nationwide tour, Mr. Osei Asenso dismissed claims circulating within some circles that the former Vice President is a newcomer to the NPP. He stressed that Dr. Bawumia has been an active and loyal member of the party for 17 years, contrary to the rumours.
He further addressed suggestions that Dr. Bawumia should “join the queue,” insisting that Bawumia has served the party faithfully over the years and that “his time has come.”
The Second Vice Chairman of the constituency, Mr. Francis Usman, commended Dr. Bawumia for including Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam in his tour, describing the gesture as a sign of respect and commitment to the grassroots. He predicted that the constituency would be one of the five areas that will deliver a decisive victory for Dr. Bawumia.
Mr. Usman also emphasized the need for unity after the internal elections and called for a decent and issue-based campaign to strengthen the party going into the 2026 general elections.
The Central Regional Secretary of the NPP, Mr. Richard Takyi Mensah, also urged delegates to vote massively for Dr. Bawumia. He outlined several reasons why the Vice President remains the best choice for the party’s 2026 presidential ticket and encouraged delegates not to allow anything to derail their support.
The visit formed part of Dr. Bawumia’s interactions with delegates and party stakeholders as he continues to make a strong case for his leadership vision and readiness to lead the NPP into the next national elections.
