Sustain Early Morning Reading Sessions to Improve Literacy — Ahafo Ano North Education Director Appeals to Teachers

The Ahafo Ano North Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Grace Oppong Agyapong, has urged teachers throughout the municipality to sustain early morning reading sessions to help improve pupils’ reading and comprehension skills.
Mrs. Oppong Agyapong emphasized that the initiative is vital for building strong literacy foundations, which will significantly benefit pupils academically, particularly as they prepare for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
She made the call during the 2025 Early Grade Reading Challenge, organised by the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Education Directorate at Tepa. The event brought together pupils from Basic 1 to Basic 3 to demonstrate their reading abilities and nurture a love for reading among young learners.
At the end of the competition, participating pupils received prizes and certificates in recognition of their efforts and to motivate them to continue improving their reading skills.
