In today’s fast-paced world, many parents and guardians struggle to spend consistent, meaningful time with their children. Demanding work schedules, financial challenges, marital issues, and other life pressures often create a gap in communication and emotional bonding—ultimately affecting children’s well-being, academic performance, and future development.
Speaking at the graduation and speech and prize-giving day of Bellview International School in Mampongteng–Korea, Ashanti Region, the school’s CEO, Nana Yaa Barnie Asanso, Nkosoɔ Hemaa of Bekwai Municipality, stressed the urgent need for parents to be intentionally present in their children’s lives.
“It is really important for parents to dedicate quality time to their wards, which should involve monitoring, guiding, and building meaningful conversations—regardless of one’s occupation,” she said.
She warned that children who grow up without warmth, consistent guidance, or emotional care often face difficulties that affect their growth in all aspects of life.
In an exclusive interview with Joy Learning’s EduNews, Mr. Acheampong Isaac, Municipal Ambulance Commander for Old Tafo and Senior Advanced Emergency Medical Technologist, echoed the CEO’s sentiments.
“Getting quality time for your ward is non-negotiable,” he stated. “Parents must take this seriously, even if they have tight schedules. Our future generational leaders need our time, guidance, and attention.”
Some students also expressed their concerns, urging parents to find amicable solutions to marital problems—issues they say often lead to single parenting and, in turn, distract children from focusing on their education and life goals.
The colourful graduation ceremony featured musical performances, choreography, a fashion show, a talent exhibition, and a buffet. The highlight of the day was the recognition of Monica E.N. Ampah, who emerged as the overall top scorer with an impressive grade point of 90.10 across all levels. She received multiple certificates, special prizes, and undisclosed gifts.
