Voting has officially ended at the Mankessim Astro Turf as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Central Regional executive elections enter the sorting and counting stage.

The polls, which brought together delegates from across the region, were conducted under a largely peaceful atmosphere, with eligible delegates given the opportunity to cast their ballots for their preferred candidates.

Following the close of voting, election officials have commenced the sorting of ballot papers in the presence of candidates, party representatives, accredited observers and other stakeholders.

The sorting process is expected to pave the way for the counting and declaration of results for the various positions contested in the Central Regional elections.

The exercise forms part of the NPP’s internal reorganisation aimed at electing regional executives who will steer the affairs of the party and strengthen its structures across the Central Region.

Party officials and supporters at the Mankessim Astro Turf are currently awaiting the outcome as the electoral officials continue with the sorting process.

The leadership of the party has repeatedly urged all candidates and their supporters to maintain peace, discipline and respect for the electoral process, regardless of the eventual outcome.
