The Minority in Parliament has asserted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), when voted into power in 2028, will conduct a full forensic review of the process leading to the awarding of the Damang Mine concession.

The position comes amid growing controversy over the concession, which is expected to be taken over by E&P Company Limited, a firm owned by the President’s brother, Ibrahim Mahama.

Addressing the press on Thursday, March 26, Ranking Member on the Lands and Natural Resources Committee, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, said the circumstances surrounding the award of the contract raise serious concerns and warrant closer scrutiny.

The Minority caucus maintains that the process must be subjected to thorough examination to ensure accountability and transparency, a charge he said the party will lead.

“The NPP, when it forms the next government in 7th January 2029, will conduct a full forensic review of every aspect of this transaction; the pre-bid conduct, the commission’s internal communications, the tender committee deliberations, the financing arrangement, mobilisation timeline and every contract and letter exchanged.

“Those who manipulated this process will be identified, those who benefited illegitimately will be held to account,” he stated.
