The Chairman of the Media Campaign Team for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential campaign, Nana Akomea, has disclosed that Dr. Bawumia intends to establish a special welfare fund for all delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when elected as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Nana Akomea made this revelation during a media interaction at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Constituency, where Dr. Bawumia is currently touring to engage party members and galvanize support.

Speaking to the media, Nana Akomea explained that the welfare fund will be structured to benefit delegates at every constituency across the country, ensuring that grassroots members feel the direct impact of the campaign and future party leadership.
He further emphasized that under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, campaign resources will be channeled directly to polling station executives, empowering them to play their roles effectively. Additionally, each constituency will receive ten appointments, a move designed to enhance inclusivity and reward loyalty within the party.

According to him, one of the major grievances of delegates has been that after elections, leaders often ignore the very people who brought them into office. Dr. Bawumia, he stressed, is determined to change this narrative by prioritizing the welfare of party members at the grassroots.
On his part, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, former Member of Parliament for Mfantseman and an aspiring National Chairman of the NPP, commended Dr. Bawumia’s proposal. He described the initiative as a laudable intervention, urging other aspirants to also present concrete plans that address the needs of the grassroots, since it is the party structure that ultimately produces a candidate who becomes acceptable to the entire nation.
The proposed welfare scheme is being positioned as part of Dr. Bawumia’s broader strategy to strengthen party unity, reward loyalty, and build a solid foundation for victory in 2028.
