The Minister-in-Charge of the Bethel Congregation of the Presbyterian Church at Mankessim, Rev. Samuel Addico, has called on Ghanaians to emulate the love God demonstrated to humanity by showing love and compassion towards one another.

Delivering his Easter message to congregants, Rev. Addico emphasised that the Easter celebration serves as a reminder of God’s immense love for mankind through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

According to him, God’s decision to send His only Son to die for the sins of humanity represents the ultimate act of love, which Christians must reflect in their daily lives and interactions with others.

“Easter teaches us how God showed His love to humanity by sacrificing His Son to redeem us from our iniquities. This same love must guide how we treat one another as individuals and as a society,” he said.

Rev. Addico urged Christians to allow the true essence of Easter to influence their conduct, stressing that genuine love should promote unity, peace, and the wellbeing of others within families, churches, and communities.

He noted that when people demonstrate sincere love and care for one another, it contributes significantly to the development of the church, community, and the nation at large.

The clergyman further explained that Easter symbolises Christ’s death and resurrection, which brought salvation and renewed hope to humanity, encouraging believers to live lives worthy of that sacrifice.

Meanwhile, the Mankessim District Pastor of the Methodist Diocese of Central Ghana (MDCC), Rev. Fredrick Hanson, expressed concern about what he described as changing trends in Easter celebrations.

He observed that some young people have increasingly engaged in activities that deviate from the spiritual significance of the occasion, warning that such behaviours could negatively influence their moral and spiritual growth.

Touching on issues of morality, Rev. Hanson referenced biblical teachings, stating that Christians must uphold values consistent with their faith and cultural beliefs. He cautioned against practices he described as immoral, urging the youth to remain guided by religious principles and discipline.

Both ministers encouraged Ghanaians to use the Easter season as a period of reflection, renewal, and commitment to values that promote love, unity, and national development.
