A Ghanaian pilgrim has died while performing this year’s Hajj in the holy city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The deceased, identified as Hajia Yussif Hawabu, was reportedly a native of Tamale.

He explained that Hajia Hawabu was performing Tawaf—the ritual circumambulation of the Kaaba—alongside other Ghanaian pilgrims when the unfortunate incident occurred.

She has since been buried in accordance with Islamic customs.

Mr. Skones extended condolences to the family of the late Hajia Hawabu and assured the public that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the wellbeing of all pilgrims.
