Ken Ofori-Atta’s Legal Team Informed OSP of His Inability to Return to Ghana – Frank Davies

A member of the legal team representing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Frank Davies, has stated that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was officially notified of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s inability to appear for questioning due to ongoing medical treatment abroad.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, June 2, Mr. Davies revealed that a formal letter was delivered to the OSP on May 27, 2025, indicating that the former minister is still receiving medical care in the United States and is currently unable to return to Ghana for an in-person interrogation.

“A letter was sent to him [the Special Prosecutor] on May 27, but the OSP has not acknowledged receipt. Nonetheless, the letter was delivered to his office,” Mr. Davies explained.

His comments follow rising tensions between Mr. Ofori-Atta and the OSP, which had earlier cautioned that failure to comply with the June 2 summons could result in the former minister being declared a fugitive and subjected to an INTERPOL Red Notice—potentially triggering international efforts to locate and extradite him.

Mr. Ofori-Atta, who served under the previous New Patriotic Party administration, is currently under investigation by the OSP for alleged corruption related to five public transactions.
