Let Anti-Galamsey Protest Go On In The Spirit Of Democracy – Cadres To Gov’t

Illegal mining (galamsey) operations over the years have destroyed most agriculture lands, polluted many water bodies in Ghana and has subsequently led to water shortages in some parts of the country.
The Gallant Cadres of NDC has urged the government to let the anti-galamsey protest go on in the spirit of democracy, as the country has showed seriousness in the fight against the menace.
The galamsey menace had threatened the nation’s very existence and needs collaborative efforts to address the canker.
Cadres had hence, called on the NDC government led by H.E. John Dramani Mahama and H.E Prof Jane Nanaa Opoku-Agyemang not to emulate Nana Addo-Bawumia led government, where some demonstrators were suffered illegally arrested and others beaten to pulp by the police.

Let Anti-Galamsey Protest Go On In The Spirit Of Democracy
Right to demonstration is an inalienable right enshrined in the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. Unlike the NPP and Nana Addo-Bawumia Administration, the NDC believe people can demonstrate on any issue which is of national interest. Fix the County demonstrators were beaten by the police, suffered illegal arrests and an induced but manipulated injunctions from the NPP Government. Oliver Barker Vormawor was incarcerated. Several Demonstrations by the ordinary citizens of Ghana were thwarted ostensibly occasioned the NPP Government.
The Gallant Cadres of NDC would like applaud president John Dramani Mahama for respecting the tenets of democracy in Ghana. After two meetings with the security and intelligence agencies yesterday, the Attorney-General directed that the application for injunction to restrain the anti-galamsey demonstrators be withdrawn. The injunction application was duly withdrawn on 25th Friday, 2025
The demonstration will be allowed to go on EXACTLY as the demonstrators have proposed.
The right to demonstrate is protected by the Constitution. President John Mahama understands the true meaning of this right. His Attorney-General, Dr Dominic Ayine, will not violate or allow anyone to violate the citizen’s right to demonstrate.
