President John Dramani Mahama has extended an invitation to investors in the United Kingdom and across the globe to take advantage of opportunities in Ghana, declaring that his administration has successfully restored stability and confidence in the country’s economy after inheriting significant economic challenges.

The President made the appeal while delivering the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026, held in London on Monday, June 1.

Addressing participants at the event, President Mahama said his government took office at a time when the Ghanaian economy was facing considerable difficulties that had weakened investor confidence and created uncertainty within the business community.

The President said the economic conditions inherited by his administration required urgent and decisive measures to restore stability and put the country back on a path of sustainable growth.

“When my administration assumed office, Ghana faced significant economic difficulties. Investor confidence had weakened, inflation was high, debt vulnerabilities had constrained fiscal space and businesses were struggling in an atmosphere of uncertainty.

“We took decisive action through disciplined economic management, institutional reforms, fiscal consolidation and enhanced coordination between monitoring and fiscal authorities. We have restored stability and renewed confidence in the Ghanaian economy.”

The summit brought together government officials, business leaders, investors and policymakers from both Ghana and the United Kingdom to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

President Mahama also highlighted the importance of partnerships between Ghana and the United Kingdom, describing the relationship as one that holds immense potential for mutual economic benefit.

He encouraged British businesses to explore investment opportunities in Ghana and take advantage of the country’s strategic location, stable democratic environment and growing market.
