Residents of Amissahkrom and surrounding communities in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region are set to benefit from improved access to essential healthcare services following the commissioning and handover of the newly completed Amissahkrom Community Health Centre.
The facility was officially commissioned on Thursday, October 1, 2026, by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah; the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Prince Kojo Arhin; and the Omanhen of the Anomabo Traditional Area, Kantamanto Amonu XII.

The newly completed facility, which includes a separate Nurses’ Quarters and a mechanised borehole, is expected to provide residents with easier access to primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, and other essential medical services.

The establishment of the health centre is also expected to reduce the distance residents have previously had to travel to access healthcare in other parts of the municipality, particularly in situations requiring prompt medical attention.
MCE Calls for Strong Maintenance Culture
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, MCE Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah reaffirmed the commitment of the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly and local leadership to providing essential social infrastructure and bringing public services closer to residents, particularly those in rural and underserved communities.
He stressed the need for the facility to be properly protected and maintained to ensure that it continues to serve the community effectively for many years.

Hon. Acquah urged health personnel, traditional authorities, community leaders and residents to develop a strong maintenance culture and take collective responsibility for safeguarding the facility, its equipment and other resources.
According to him, the success of development projects should not be measured only by their construction and commissioning, but also by how effectively they are managed and maintained after completion.
Mfantseman MP Reaffirms Commitment to Constituency Development
The Mfantseman MP, Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Prince Kojo Arhin, said the completion of the health centre forms part of broader efforts to address critical development needs within the constituency.
He emphasised the importance of investing in infrastructure that directly impacts the welfare and living conditions of constituents, particularly in healthcare, education, roads and other essential social services.

Hon. Dr. Arhin noted that accessible healthcare infrastructure is crucial to improving the wellbeing of residents and supporting the socioeconomic development of communities across Mfantseman.
He assured constituents that local leadership would continue to identify and support projects aimed at addressing pressing developmental challenges within the municipality.
Amissahkrom Chief Appeals for Improved Roads
Receiving the facility on behalf of the people of Amissahkrom, the Chief of the community, Nana Amissah X, expressed appreciation to the MCE, the MP and other stakeholders for responding to the healthcare needs of the community.
While commending the initiative, Nana Amissah X appealed to the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly and the central government to give urgent attention to the road network linking Amissahkrom to neighbouring communities and major market centres.
He explained that improved roads would complement the new health facility by making it easier for residents to access medical services while also facilitating the movement of health workers and emergency vehicles.

Nana Amissah X stressed that good road infrastructure is particularly important during emergencies and periods of heavy rainfall, when poor road conditions can make transportation difficult and delay access to healthcare.
He therefore called on the government, the MCE and the MP to consider improving the area’s road network as a priority.
Stakeholders Welcome New Facility
The commissioning ceremony brought together traditional leaders, officials from the Mfantseman Municipal Health Directorate, political executives, community leaders and residents.
The completion of the Amissahkrom Community Health Centre is expected to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the area and contribute to efforts to bring essential public services closer to residents.
Residents and community leaders expressed hope that the facility would be adequately staffed, equipped and maintained to enable it to provide quality healthcare services to people in Amissahkrom and surrounding communities.
