President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has toured the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant (ACARP) as part of his three-day state visit to Ghana, in a move aimed at deepening cooperation in sustainable waste management.

The visit underscores growing ties between Ghana and Zimbabwe, particularly in advancing environmental sustainability and promoting innovative, homegrown solutions to sanitation challenges across Africa.
During the tour, President Mnangagwa observed firsthand the plant’s recycling and composting processes, gaining insight into how waste is efficiently processed into reusable materials. The facility is a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies, a key player in Ghana’s sanitation sector.

He was taken through the operations by the Executive Chairman of the Group, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, who detailed the plant’s role in reducing landfill waste while contributing to environmental protection.
Impressed by the operations, President Mnangagwa described the facility as a commendable model for effective waste management on the continent, highlighting its potential to be replicated in other African countries.

The visit also opened discussions on possible collaboration and knowledge exchange between Ghana and Zimbabwe, as both countries seek to strengthen their approaches to sanitation and environmental management.
