Residents Appeal to Government to Resolve Chieftaincy Disputes for Development

Residents of Wassa Ateiku in the Western Region are appealing to the government to intervene and help resolve longstanding chieftaincy disputes in the area to pave the way for development.
According to the residents, the persistent conflicts over traditional leadership have stalled progress and deprived the community of much-needed development projects.
Speaking to Agyei Kwaku Mensah, the Unit Committee Chairman for Wassa Ateiku, Mr Emmanuel Quarshie, who spoke on behalf of the residents, pleaded with the President and the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to step in and help settle the disputes once and for all.
He explained that whenever government officials visit the area, multiple factions claim the right to receive them as the rightful chief, creating confusion and undermining unity in the community.
Other residents echoed similar concerns, stressing that the chieftaincy disagreements have affected every aspect of life, including job creation and youth development.
They are therefore calling on the President to use his authority to help bring lasting peace to the traditional leadership front so the community can attract investment and development initiatives to improve the livelihoods of the people, especially the youth.
