Addressing participants, Mr. Magnus Cofie, General Manager for Network Operations, shed light on the physical and infrastructure challenges that affect MTN’s network stability. He noted that frequent fibre optic cable cuts—often resulting from road construction, water-pipe installations, and other civil works—remain one of the major causes of network interruptions.

“These incidents have a direct impact on network reliability and the user experience,” Mr. Cofie stated. “We are, however, working on relocating sections of our fibre infrastructure to more secure areas to mitigate recurring outages. MTN is also seeking stronger collaboration with government agencies and contractors to reduce fibre damage during public works.”
The forum also highlighted MTN Ghana’s strong commitment to its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, emphasizing continued support for key sectors of the Ghanaian economy, including education, health, and community development. Through these initiatives, MTN Ghana aims to foster sustainable growth and improve the quality of life for people across the country.

Many stakeholders noted that such forums are vital for promoting collaboration, accountability, and shared innovation in building a fully connected and digitally empowered Ghana.
