Former Minister of Education and aspiring presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has reiterated his commitment to making education the cornerstone of Ghana’s national development. He urged delegates in the Central Region to support his presidential bid for the 2028 elections, promising to build a nation where education drives progress in every sector of life.
Speaking during a two-day tour of the Central Region, where he met with party executives, former MMDCEs, and former Members of Parliament, Dr. Adutwum highlighted his achievements as Education Minister and shared his vision for a knowledge-driven economy.
He reminded delegates of the numerous education reforms introduced under his leadership, including the transformation of secondary education, the expansion of STEM schools, and the strengthening of technical and vocational training.
Dr. Adutwum stated that his vision for Ghana is to make education the foundation for every aspect of national development — from innovation and entrepreneurship to governance and social advancement.
“If we make education the foundation of everything we do, Ghana will rise. Every child, no matter their background, must have the opportunity to reach their full potential. That is how nations like India and the United States have built strong economies — through education and innovation,” he said.
He further explained that prioritizing IT-based education and technical skills training would empower the youth, create jobs, and help alleviate poverty across the country.
“An educated nation is an empowered nation. My goal is to ensure that no Ghanaian child is left behind, and that our education system becomes the engine that drives national transformation,” Dr. Adutwum added.
