The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced significant disruptions to voice and data services across Ghana’s five northern regions and parts of the Oti Region following multiple fibre cuts affecting key telecommunications transmission routes.
In a statement issued on Saturday, September 26, 2026, the NCA said the disruptions were caused by fibre cuts affecting three separate transmission routes that carry telecommunications capacity to the affected areas.

The damage has resulted in service outages and significant degradation of voice and data services across 2G, 3G and 4G networks, affecting a substantial number of network sites.
According to the Authority, the disruption is impacting telecommunications services in parts of the Northern, Savannah, North East, Upper East and Upper West regions, as well as sections of the Oti Region.
The NCA said technical teams from the affected network operators, working in collaboration with the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), have been deployed to the affected transmission routes to assess the damage and carry out the necessary repairs.
Restoration efforts underway
The Authority said restoration work is currently ongoing, with technical teams working to repair the damaged fibre infrastructure and restore normal telecommunications services.
The NCA added that it is closely monitoring the restoration process and coordinating with the affected network operators and other relevant agencies to facilitate the earliest possible restoration of services.
The disruption could affect customers’ ability to make and receive calls, access mobile data services and use other telecommunications-dependent services in the affected areas.
The Authority has apologised to consumers for the inconvenience caused by the outages and service degradation.
It assured the public that it would continue to monitor developments and provide further updates as restoration efforts progress.
The NCA has also urged affected consumers to remain patient while the technical teams work to restore full connectivity across the affected regions.
