NPP PRESIDENTIAL RACE: Kwaku Kwarteng, Other MPs Pick Nomination Forms for Kennedy Agyapong

A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament on Tuesday, August 5, picked up nomination forms on behalf of presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Leading the delegation was the MP for Obuasi West, Kwaku Kwarteng, joined by Charles Forson (Tema West), Stephen Amoah (Nhyiaeso), and Lawrence Agyinsam (Hemang Lower Denkyira).
They were accompanied by Dr. Alex Ampaabeng, a former Deputy Finance Minister under the Akufo-Addo administration, who has openly declared his support for Agyapong. Dr. Ampaabeng described him as the best candidate to lead both the NPP and the nation into a prosperous future.
“As momentum builds toward the January 31st primaries, it’s becoming increasingly evident which influential party figures are backing the leading contenders,” a party insider observed.
Kennedy Agyapong, who placed second to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the party’s 2024 presidential primaries, becomes the first to pick up nomination forms for the 2026 race. His early and strategic move signals a renewed bid for leadership as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections.
