NSA Demands Documentation for Nkawkaw Stadium Project After “Progressive” Meeting with MP Bryan Acheampong

The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has requested all legal documents related to ongoing construction work at the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium.
This follows advice to suspend any unauthorised work until the required documentation and approvals are secured by businessman and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Hon. Bryan Acheampong.
Providing further details on the development, NSA Director General Yaw Ampofo indicated that work can resume immediately once all construction guidelines and legal requirements are met.
In 2020, the NSA and the Middle Belt Development Authority (MBA) engaged Farahdel Ghana Ltd. to modernise the Nkawkaw Stadium into a multifunctional sports facility. However, the project stalled due to budgetary constraints.
Earlier this year, Hon. Bryan Acheampong offered to provide financial support for a scaled-down version of the project. This new plan was intended as a temporary structure to serve as the home venue for Okwahu United in the upcoming football season.
Although well-intentioned, this move was carried out without the prior involvement of the NSA, which owns and manages the Nkawkaw Stadium. Consequently, in May 2025, Farahdel Ghana Ltd. resumed construction based on a new model proposed by Hon. Acheampong, prompting conflicting reports in the media.
To clarify the situation and ensure proper legal and regulatory compliance, the NSA dispatched a team led by its Estates Manager and Chief Operating Officer to conduct a fact-finding tour of the stadium site.
After reviewing the team’s report on June 8, the NSA Director General engaged Hon. Acheampong to discuss the project and agreed to pause work until all statutory requirements are fulfilled. A comprehensive report will be submitted to the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddi Adams.
On Monday, June 16, a stakeholder briefing was held at the Nkawkaw Stadium site to clarify the project’s revised model, outline the necessary approvals, and update the local community and the region.
