Presidency Launches Government Accountability Series to Boost Transparency

The Communications Office of the Presidency will on Monday, 14th July 2025, launch the Government Accountability Series, an initiative aimed at strengthening transparency and deepening public trust in governance.

The series is designed to provide an open platform for key sector ministers to deliver comprehensive mid-year updates and share preliminary assessments of their ministries’ performance over the past six months. By doing so, the government hopes to keep citizens informed and engaged while reinforcing its commitment to good governance and accountability.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the sessions will take place three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays — at 11 a.m. Each session will feature a different minister addressing critical developments, challenges, and achievements within their sector, followed by an interactive segment where questions from the media and the public will be addressed.

The inaugural session will be led by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who will provide an update on the state of national security, law enforcement, and ongoing reforms within the interior ministry.

The Government Accountability Series forms part of broader efforts to promote transparency, combat misinformation, and foster a culture of open dialogue between the government and citizens.

Members of the public and civil society groups have welcomed the move, describing it as a step in the right direction towards building trust and ensuring responsible governance.
