President Mahama Appoints Alhaji Said Sinare as Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed H.E. Alhaji Said Sinare, a former National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The appointment, conveyed in an official letter dated July 21, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, forms part of a broader diplomatic reshuffle aimed at strengthening Ghana’s international presence and deepening bilateral relations.
Alhaji Sinare is a seasoned diplomat and respected statesman who previously served as Ghana’s Ambassador to both Egypt and Saudi Arabia during President Mahama’s earlier administration. His reappointment to Riyadh is widely viewed by political observers as a strong vote of confidence in his diplomatic acumen, extensive experience in international affairs, and unwavering commitment to public service.
The correspondence, addressed to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, instructed the Ministry to initiate the necessary processes to facilitate the appointment of Alhaji Sinare and seven other distinguished nominees to ambassadorial and high commissioner roles in countries including Namibia, South Korea, Italy, Hungary, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Kenya.
Alhaji Sinare’s return to Riyadh comes at a pivotal moment as Ghana seeks to broaden its economic and diplomatic engagement with Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region. His deep understanding of Arab geopolitics and his diplomatic track record position him as a capable envoy to advance Ghana’s strategic interests in the oil-rich Kingdom.
In a related development, the presidency has also appointed Mr. Benedict Batabe Assorow as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Vatican City State, replacing Mrs. Satireh Dorcas Ocran.
The latest appointments have been welcomed by members of the diplomatic community and supporters of the NDC, many of whom see Alhaji Sinare’s return as a reflection of President Mahama’s commitment to leveraging experienced and trusted hands in advancing Ghana’s foreign policy objectives.
With his Pan-African credentials, diplomatic expertise, and proven leadership, Alhaji Said Sinare is expected to inject renewed energy into Ghana-Saudi relations under the Mahama administration.
