A fire has destroyed portions of the official residence of the Afigya Kwabre South District Chief Executive (DCE), Pearl Ankrah, at Kodie in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and affected parts of the building, which is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Madam Ankrah had not yet moved into the residence at the time of the fire.
Swift intervention by personnel from the Mamponteng Division of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) helped prevent the blaze from spreading to other sections of the building.
A video shared by Accra-based TV3 captured the scene, showing flames and thick smoke engulfing part of the structure.
No casualties were reported, and police have since launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
