The people of Mankessim, in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region, have showered praise on Her Royal Majesty Nana Dr. Ama Amissah III, Paramount Queenmother of Mankessim and a distinguished member of the Godbod, for her hands-on involvement in a community cleanup exercise.
The exercise, held on Thursday, August 14, saw scores of residents, community leaders, and volunteers unite to rid the town of filth and promote healthy living. The Queenmother’s active participation, working alongside residents, was met with admiration and respect.
Many participants described her involvement as a remarkable example of leadership and humility, noting that it is uncommon in some traditional areas to see paramount leaders physically take part in sanitation efforts. Her presence, they said, not only boosted morale but also inspired greater community turnout.
In brief interactions during the exercise, Dr. Ama Amissah urged residents to make sanitation a regular commitment rather than a one-off event, emphasizing that cleanliness is key to preventing disease outbreaks and improving the town’s appeal for tourism and business.
Community members further expressed their hope that the Queenmother’s example would encourage other traditional and municipal leaders to take an active role in similar initiatives, fostering a culture of civic responsibility and unity.
The cleanup exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly and traditional authorities to keep Mankessim clean, healthy, and attractive for residents and visitors alike.
