Nana Otwer Koko Nyeiku VII, Sumankwaahen of the Ekumfi Traditional Area and Odzikro of Ekumfi Srafa, has called on residents to reconsider the practice of limiting Members of Parliament (MPs) to a single four-year term, arguing that continuity in leadership is key to accelerating development in the district.

According to the traditional leader, frequent changes in parliamentary representation often disrupt ongoing projects and stall long-term development plans. He stressed that retaining capable MPs beyond one term would ensure policy consistency, stronger advocacy, and sustained progress for the people of Ekumfi.

Nana Otwer Koko Nyeiku VII made these remarks during the 10th memorial anniversary of Nana Enoo Mutaku II. The event was marked by a solemn interdenominational service led by the Member of Parliament for Ekumfi, Hon. Dr. Okofo Kwainoe, alongside the Aboradze Royal Family of Ekumfi Essarkyir. The ceremony brought together family members, traditional authorities, and residents to honour the legacy of the late chief.

Prayers were offered in remembrance of Nana Enoo Mutaku II, with speakers celebrating his enduring contributions to community development, unity, and traditional leadership. Many described him as a visionary leader whose impact continues to shape the Ekumfi area.

As part of the commemoration, a memorial lecture was held at the MP’s residence, attracting dignitaries, opinion leaders, and community members. Discussions centred on the values and leadership qualities exemplified by the late chief, as well as the need to uphold his vision for progress and cohesion within the district.

Participants also used the occasion to reflect on the broader development needs of Ekumfi, with a strong emphasis on continuity in political leadership as a catalyst for meaningful and sustained growth.
