Several students from Ben Konadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem are in critical condition after their bus crashed on the Aseseeso stretch between Adukrom and Somanya of the Eastern Region.
The bus, carrying 62 children on an excursion to Akosombo, reportedly lost control while descending a hill and somersaulted before landing on its side.
Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey, who was passing by, joined rescue efforts, helping transport some injured students to Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital.
The officers of the Ghana Police, Fire, and Ambulance Services are at the scene, working to rescue trapped victims.
