A domestic dispute at Anokyi, a suburb of Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region, has left a man seriously injured after his wife allegedly attacked him with a cutlass following an argument over food.
Reports reaching News Africa Ghana indicate that the 24-year-old woman identified as Aisha allegedly inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on her 26-year-old husband, Mr. Kojo Otoo, a commercial driver, during a heated confrontation at their residence.
According to the victim, he returned home late from work and requested supper from his wife. However, Aisha reportedly informed him that the cooking gas had finished and that she was unable to reheat the food.
Mr. Otoo is said to have attempted to verify the claim by checking the gas cylinder himself, an action that allegedly triggered a misunderstanding between the couple and escalated into a heated argument.
Sources say the situation worsened when Mr. Otoo decided to reheat the food on his own. In what witnesses described as a shocking turn of events, the suspect allegedly attacked him with a cutlass, inflicting deep wounds on parts of his body.
The injured man was reportedly assisted by neighbours and rushed for medical attention, while the incident sparked tension within both families.
Efforts by relatives from both sides to resolve the matter amicably and separate the couple have so far been unsuccessful, according to family sources.
It remains unclear whether the case has been formally reported to the police, as residents continue to express concern over the rising cases of domestic violence within the community.
