More than 1,800 delegates and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam (AEE) Constituency have threatened to leave the party if the national leadership fails to allow the constituency to hold its elections as scheduled tomorrow.
The delegates, who expressed deep frustration over what they described as prolonged delays and interference in the constituency’s internal elections, accused some members of the national party leadership of contributing to disunity and weakening the NPP in the constituency.
Addressing a press conference in Ajumako, the leader of the aggrieved delegates and supporters, Lawrence Abiate, called on the national leadership to urgently intervene and resolve the impasse to pave the way for the constituency elections.
Mr Abiate further demanded that the national party investigate allegations of conduct that have allegedly contributed to divisions within the constituency and sanction any party officials found culpable.
According to the group, failure by the national leadership to address their concerns and allow the elections to proceed could trigger a major protest through the withdrawal of a significant number of delegates, aspirants, supporters and sympathisers from party activities.
The delegates specifically referenced the supporters of aspirant Ebenezer Rbo Quansah Eghan, claiming that about 1,200 delegates and more than 18,000 party faithful and sympathisers could “advise themselves” and distance themselves from the party and its activities if the situation is not resolved.
The group said the constituency-level elections have been characterised by petitions, disputes and what they described as prolonged legal and administrative manoeuvring.
They argued that the party’s constitution and approved election guidelines already provide mechanisms for resolving such disputes and therefore urged party officials to rely on the established rules rather than allowing the impasse to persist.
“We have observed with utmost shock that some party officials tasked with resolving these bottlenecks are either unwilling to do so for reasons best known to them or are complicit in creating barriers to the electoral process,” the delegates alleged.
They stressed that the continued delay was causing frustration among grassroots members and could have serious consequences for party unity and cohesion in the constituency.
Some of the delegates who spoke at the press conference also shared their frustrations over the repeated postponement of the constituency elections, saying the uncertainty was demoralising grassroots supporters who had expected the internal electoral process to have been completed.
The aggrieved delegates therefore appealed to the NPP national leadership to intervene immediately, ensure that all outstanding issues are resolved in accordance with the party’s constitution and election guidelines, and allow the constituency to proceed with the elections without further delay.
They warned that failure to act could deepen divisions within the constituency and lead to a significant loss of support for the party at the grassroots.
The delegates maintained that their demand was not intended to undermine the NPP but rather to protect the party’s unity, democratic processes and future electoral prospects in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency.

THE REFUSAL OF NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY OFFICIALS TO UPHOLD THE PARTY’S CONSTITUTION, IN THE AJUMAKO ENYAN ESSIAM CONSTITUENCY LEVEL ELECTIONS
We, the concerned members of the New Patriotic Party in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, led by Mr Ebenezer Ebo Quansah Eghan, wish to draw the attention of same minded party people, the media and the general public to some happenings in the Party at the Constituency level that we deem to be jeopardizing the unity we seek for the party and our chances of winning power in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Ladies and gentlemen from the media, we do not make these claims in vacuum. We will like to demonstrate same to buttress our observation.
Every organization that seeks to save itself from chaos needs a working constitution. It serves as the legal framework and operational rulebook that guides decision making, and protects the organisation’s integrity and also defines internal governance.
The New Patriotic Party that we all belong to is one of such organisation. We are one of the party that tout ourselves as the apostles of the rule of law and we have delivered same in many instances.
Ladies and gentlemen, it was not long ago that the party instituted the National elections steering Committee and replicated same at the Regional and Constituency levels of the party.
These Committees backed by the party Constitution and the elections guidelines as approved by the General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong were tasked to do many things to conduct Constituency level elections. A task that has been successfully executed in almost all 275 constituencies but for Ajumako Enyan Essiam.
The Constituency level elections of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam NPP has been fraught with petitions and legal gymnastics whose cure lies in the elections guidelines and party Constitution. But worryingly we have observed with the utmost shock that, some party officials tasked to dispose off these bottlenecks not using the rulebook are either unwilling, unwilling to do so for whatever reasons best known to them or are Complicit in putting these barriers in the way of the party.
WE DEMAND: AS A MATTER OF URGENCY
1. We demand that, the National party resolves all issues in the Constituency with immediate effect, Close of day today, 13-08-2026.
2. We demand that the National party investigates and sanctions all party officials found culpable of instigating disunity in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam NPP.
3. Failure to do this, I, Ebenezer Ebo Quansah Eghan, a Chairmanship Aspirant in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency, together with my followers of over 1,200 delegates and over 18,000 party faithful and sympathizers will advise ourselves from the party and its activities accordingly.
