
The Office of Abora Tetsihen and the Adabor Etsipon Palace has officially announced a ban on drumming and noise-making, effective August 1, 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming traditional rituals and the celebration of Okyir.
In a public notice issued by the Palace, residents of Tetsi Mampong and its surrounding communities are respectfully informed that the ban will be in effect from Friday, August 1 to Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
“In accordance with traditional custom and protocol, we hereby issue this public notice to inform all residents of Tetsi Mampong and surrounding areas that there will be a ban on drumming and noise-making from 1st August to 27th August this year,” the statement read.
During this sacred period, all forms of drumming, loud music, and noise-making—including those from churches, bars, and other public or private events—are strictly prohibited. This measure is intended to ensure peace, solemnity, and spiritual focus as the community observes important ancestral rites.
The Palace calls for the cooperation, respect, and understanding of all individuals, religious bodies, social groups, and institutions within the affected areas. It also urges community leaders and local authorities to help enforce the directive to preserve cultural integrity and ensure peaceful observance of the rites.
“We kindly request the cooperation and understanding of all individuals, groups, and institutions in adhering to this ban. Your respect for our traditional customs and protocols will be greatly appreciated,” the statement concluded.
The Palace extends gratitude in advance to the public for their support and urges all to continue fostering peaceful coexistence rooted in mutual respect for culture and tradition.
