The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has issued a heartfelt apology to Ghanaians, acknowledging the party’s shortcomings during its time in government.
Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 19, Mr. Kodua admitted that while the NPP made significant progress in some areas, it also fell short in others. He assured the public that if given another mandate, the party would not repeat its past mistakes.
“As a political party, we certainly did our best, but we acknowledge that we didn’t get everything right,” he said. “On behalf of our former government and our party, we sincerely apologise for the things we could not do right.”
Following its defeat in the 2024 general elections after two terms in office, the NPP has embarked on a period of introspection and reform. Mr. Kodua noted that this process has allowed the party to critically assess its governance record and chart a more effective path forward.
He reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to accountability and improvement.
“We are a party that is willing to learn and grow. When we return to power, we will build on the good we achieved and ensure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated,” he pledged.
