Traders who previously operated along the busy Accra–Cape Coast Highway at Anomabo in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region have officially been relocated to a newly constructed market facility.

The relocation forms part of efforts by the local authorities to decongest the roadside, improve safety for motorists and pedestrians, and provide traders with a more organized and hygienic environment to conduct their businesses.

The traders expressed appreciation to the authorities and other stakeholders for the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards improving trading conditions in the area.

Speaking to Tobinco Media Group, Mr. Agyei Kwaku Mensah after the relocation exercise, the Assembly Member for the Kokodo Electoral Area, Hon. Amos Asuku, expressed gratitude to Atinka News for the role the media outlet has played in highlighting the situation over the years until the traders were finally moved from the roadside.

According to him, the relocation will not only improve safety along the highway but will also help strengthen commercial activities in Anomabo.

Hon. Asuku therefore called on investors and traders from surrounding communities to take advantage of the new facility and come to Anomabo to do business, stressing that the Anomabo market is the second largest market in the Mfantseman Municipality after the Mankessim market.

He further assured that measures would be put in place to ensure proper maintenance of the market so that the facility will serve traders and residents for many years.

The Market Queen Mother, Nana Esi Appiahwaa, on her part thanked the Municipal Chief Executive, traditional leaders, and the Assembly Member for listening to their concerns and taking steps to relocate them from the roadside to the market.

She noted that the traders are committed to maintaining cleanliness in the market, adding that they have already made arrangements to employ people to regularly tidy up the facility.

Some of the traders also commended the authorities for the gesture but appealed for the construction of sheds within the market to provide them with shelter, especially during rainy periods.

They pledged to maintain the market and ensure that the environment remains clean at all times.
