A scene of horror unfolded in Tema Community One on Monday, March 16, after a helicopter plunged from the sky and crashed into the Oninku Drive School Park, sending shockwaves through the area.
At least three persons on board the aircraft are feared dead following the devastating impact, according to initial reports from emergency responders.
The crash triggered a swift emergency response, with personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arriving promptly at the scene to contain and extinguish flames that engulfed parts of the wreckage. Officers from the Ghana Police Service also cordoned off the area to ensure public safety and support rescue operations.
Emergency teams later retrieved the charred bodies of the victims from the wreckage as investigators began preliminary assessments to determine the cause of the crash.
Mr Ahmed Abdullia, Assemblyman for the Kwesi Plange Electoral Area, confirmed that no students were injured in the incident, despite the aircraft crashing within the school park. He noted that the timely evacuation and absence of students at the exact crash point helped prevent what could have been a far greater tragedy.

Residents and eyewitnesses described moments of panic as a loud noise was heard before the helicopter descended rapidly and burst into flames upon impact.

Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into the incident, while further details regarding the aircraft and the identities of the victims are yet to be officially confirmed.
