NPP Distances Itself from Asante Akim South MP’s Remarks, Reaffirms Commitment to Unity

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dissociated itself from comments attributed to the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, describing the remarks as “unfortunate.”
In a statement issued on November 1 by the Party’s National Secretariat and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the principles of inclusivity, equality, and national cohesion.
“The National Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has noted with concern certain comments attributed to the Honourable Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, and considers such a statement unfortunate. The Party disassociates itself from those remarks,” the statement read.
The Party emphasised that it remains steadfast in its vision of building a society where all citizens have equal opportunities to contribute to national development, regardless of background.
“As a political tradition founded on the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, and equal opportunity, the Party remains dedicated to fostering a society where every Ghanaian—irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or social background—can participate meaningfully in the governance and development of our nation,” it added.
Reiterating its core values, the NPP stressed that membership and recognition within the Party are earned through loyalty, commitment, and service, not through personal identity or affiliation.
“The Party emphasises that political membership and recognition within the NPP are not defined by personal attributes or identity, but by one’s loyalty, commitment, and service to the Party’s ideals and the national interest. The NPP welcomes all citizens who share its core values and are willing to contribute to Ghana’s democratic and developmental progress,” the statement continued.
The Party concluded by reassuring Ghanaians of its dedication to promoting unity, respect, and tolerance in the country’s political discourse.
“As a Party of unity and progress, the NPP assures the Ghanaian people that it will continue to uphold the dignity of every citizen and promote a political culture anchored in tolerance, respect, and inclusiveness.”
